Defrosting Pork

The Best way to defrost meat is in the refrigerator.

Fridge Defrosting Time

Roast

Larger than 2 lbs (1 kg.)
Less than 2 lbs (1 kg.)
12-15 hours/lb. (500g)
10-12 hours/lb (500g)

Chops/Steaks

2-pack
8-10 hours.

Ground Pork

1 lb (500g)
1 lbs (1 kg.)
16-20 hours
24-30 hours

Meat defrosted in a microwave oven should be cooked immediately.

The Whole Pig products are vacuum packed and fresh as the day they were frozen, when defrosted properly, for minimally 6 months in your freezer. If a vacuum seal is broken, which may happen if packages are dropped or thrown into the freezer, freezer burn can happen. This meat isn’t harmful if you should eat it, but the flavour and texture will be compromised.

Note from TVR. I have been known to place frozen roasts directly in a crock pot in the a.m. with excellent results in the p.m.
